Nearly two years ago The Coathangers came to Total Drag and played an incredibly rad show that still gives me chills when I think about it. Last tuesday those badass babes came back to hang with us and fill Total Drag with super good femme power and punk music.
It hadn't felt like it had been two years since they last played again, but when I looked at the photos I took the last time they were here I knew it must have been, because those photos were... super mediocre. It felt good to be able to shoot them again with how much I've improved my craft, and I hope you enjoy these photos I captured of these rad cats!
The Coathangers brought along their friends The Residuels with some seriously solid rock and roll. Here are the photographs I captured of them during their set!
One of my favorite local bands has recently risen from the dead and their sound is stronger than ever with their return. With several newer songs that felt emotionally raw paired with a hypnotic stage presence, they set the perfect tone for the night.
Thanks for looking at my art.

Here's some photos from a rad show at TOTAL DRAG the other week
Up first was local babez, Bodega Sushi
The Coax came from Minneapolis as they kicked off a 60 day tour in support of their new album called "Total Drag".. And yeah. It's inspired by our rad lil' all ages venue here in Sioux Falls.
And Narco States, another killer Minneapolis band, finished off the night with some rad, fuzzy psych rock.

The last show of 2016 was loud, fast and sweaty; my favorite kind of show, and an especially satisfying end to this year. I was not expecting a sold-out show at all but that's what I walked into 5 minutes before the start of the show and it was honestly pretty rad to see so many people there after a lack of shows during the holiday season.
And with that 2016 is down the drain. Looking forward to lots more rad shows like this in 2017!
February ended and with it came the much anticipated Twin Peaks double show at Total Drag. If you weren't there or have never heard of the band Twin Peaks, definitely check out their music. These Chicago dudes played at Total Drag last year and it was such an awesome show that this year they agreed to play two shows in one night, and it was one of my favorite shows so far this year.
This time they brought their Chicago pals Uh Bones along with them and each band played twice that night. I hung back and enjoyed the energy and sounds while browsing records for the early show which was packed and had been sold out for a while before the actual date of the show.
Though I did jump up front for a few songs to snag a few photos of our local lo-fi gang Th' Rattletrap:
The late show started with some of our other rad locals, Tenenbaums, and they opened the show with lots of energy and had everyone hyped for the rest of the bands.
The late sets of Uh Bones and especially Twin Peaks, had a goofy, crazy, and just a general loose feeling that all added up to an incredible show that felt unique to the space and the people involved at that moment. There was one point where a couple of the guys from Uh Bones came over near me in the crowd and got everybody to start dancing, and later when Twin Peaks finished their set a few mic stands and random junk from the stage was thrown all over and the crowd and the band all sort of merged together and everyone had cheesy grins plastered across their faces.
It was pretty rad.
